It seems awfully quiet here pre-dawn today after yesterday's wind --- and daylight will reveal damage that may have occurred overnight. Reports suggest that the south of Iowa escaped with relatively minor damage, but that major storms and tornados occurred to the north. We'll see.
Meanwhile, I've been reading about the COVID-19 situation, worsening here in Iowa as it is elsewhere. Here's a link to a good summary of the situation from yesterday's Des Moines Register.
Lucas County Public Health reported 29 new cases last week; two additional deaths, one last week and another the previous, have brought that total to 28.
In addition, the Iowa Capital Dispatch has an interesting piece by veteran reporter Clark Kauffman headlined "Iowa doctor promotes ivermectin, calls masks ‘silly’ and says pandemic is over." The subject of the piece is Chariton's Dr. Molly James and it's an interesting read.
Dr. James seems also to have been a major player in a group called Southern Iowa Freedom Defenders that popped up here this fall --- united by opposition to vaccine mandates, concerns about Critical Race Theory, etc., etc.
Personally, I'll keep taking precautions; have had my shots and the booster; just ordered more masks --- and continue to believe that Black Lives Matter. We certainly do live in interesting times.
