I came across this timely quote, attributed to Albert Einstein, while searching the World Wide Web for indications of human sanity this morning --- and coming up short.
Einstein may have said it; then again, maybe not. But by gum he should have --- so there are a lot of illustrations like this one out there.
Someone who has invested a great deal of time in the search tracked the quote to a couple of obscure books by a gentleman named Frederick S. Perls who claimed to have been sitting in the presence of the great man himself when he uttered these pearls of wisdom.
So we have to accept Mr. Perls' assurances that Einstein actually said it.
Others have pointed out that the thought is not original and has been included in slightly different form in many works as the ages have rolled by.
It's another one of those days when the world seems to be spiraling toward madness --- whether it be in Washington, D.C., Tel Aviv and Gaza --- or Des Moines.
So I'm going to take cover, have a bowl of cereal (Great Grains) and hope for the best.
