Easter flowers & Justin Pearson's Easter sermon

I've been waiting for the magnolias scattered around Chariton to acknowledge spring and Easter Sunday was the day the Merrills --- including this infant on the museum campus --- chose to burst into full bloom.

So I spent a little time after an errand took me there just admiring its blossoms.

The most dramatic of the Merrill Magnolias is located in front of A. Jensen Enterprises on the south side of Court Avenue a half block west of Casey's. Take a look (safely) as you drive by early this week.

Then I followed up on Easter morn at St. Andrew's in Chariton by watching another service --- this one from Church of the River in Memphis, Tennessee, home to the congregation of First Unitarian Church of Memphis.

That service was a joint one with the congregation of Community of Faith Christian Church, pastored by the Rev. Jason Pearson, father of Tennessee State Rep. Justin Pearson, infamously expelled last week with Rep. Justin Jones by the Republican House majority for speaking out for gun control.

Although not clergy, Justin Pearson delivered the sermon of the day, demonstrating what an accomplished orator he is.

If you're interested in listening yourself, here's the link --- just advance to about midway through the video to find the sermon.
