Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition ...

I stumbled upon this promotional tweet this morning while searching for the meaning of life on the world wide web.

Interesting, I thought --- the appropriate valentine gift for devout friends who worship guns as well as Jesus.

Yes, the product apparently exists, as does the Etsy shop Liberty Concealment. I didn't take the time to search for this model, but found a similar one in wood --- more appropriate for those into "country" decor --- for $305.99. More than I'm willing to spend for a valentine.

The "praise the Lord" line rose to popularity after 1942 when Frank Loesser wrote a song of that title in response to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

The words themselves apparently were spoken by LTJG Howard M. Forgy, a chaplain aboard the USS New Orleans, as he walked along the ammunition line of that vessel during the Pearl Harbor attack.

Here's a version of it, courtesy of YouTube.
