Black History Month and an opportunity ....

February is Black History Month in the United States, an observance little noted in overwhelmingly white Iowa where the GOP-controlled Legislature, and others, have been spending a great deal of time obsessing about critical race theory, books that might distress overwhelmingly white people and the like.

Here's a post on the general topic that I liked --- written by veteran political reporter Kathie Obradovich and published in the Iowa Capital Dispatch, that asks the question, "Will Iowans fight against racism and discrimination?"

Scroll through to the end or follow this link to register for a Feb. 16 event sponsored by One Human Family of the Quad Cities Area and other organizations entitled "Iowa is Better Than This! --- Lamenting Iowa's Discriminatory Legislation." Other sponsors include the American Association of University Women (AAUW) of Iowa, the Interfaith Alliance of Iowa & Action Fund, the League of Women Voters of Iowa and Progress Iowa.

I'm hoping to tune in for it.
