Late spring in the museum garden ...

Kay's been spending hours and hours in the museum gardens, removing stray weeds, dead-heading, pruning, adding mulch and otherwise getting them into shape before summer arrives. The big iris show is over now, but the peonies still are upright and blooming. And there's plenty to admire elsewhere.

The Siberian iris, which bloom in both blue (shown here) and white --- in a lower bed that I didn't get to Tuesday evening --- are my favorites.

And then there are the poppies.

Traditional bold orange and a more subtle pink.

This little guy can be invasive and has to be thinned now and then.

And the roses are just starting to bloom.

The lily season is almost upon us, then the next explosion of color will begin.

If you don't have a garden at home, stop any time and claim this one. There's a picnic table and benches scattered around and you're always welcome. Pull a weed, too, if you like.
