As that Roman guy Horace said, "Carpe diem!"


Just a few flowers from the museum gardens this morning, transitory things ...

Especially late-blooming iris sometimes called "Siberian."


Or "Japanese."


Poppies, too.


Some day lily varieties have been developed to just keep blooming.


Roses, too.


And daisies are sturdy creatures. They'll be around for a while.


But it's a season of the year when preoccupation with less consequential things can cause a guy to miss the important stuff.

The Buddha reportedly put it this way: "Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment."

Not bad advice.
