Lamentations for Holy Saturday

This is the Edward Ames Temple cross not far inside the main gates of the Chariton Cemetery, veiled rather effectively late yesterday afternoon for Good Friday and Holy Saturday I thought by the tree that on warmer days shades it.

New fire will rekindle the light in many churches during this evening's Great Vigil of Easter, commencing after sunset. But today traditionally is reserved for contemplation.

So here's Palestrina's setting for the Holy Saturday lamentations, sung by the Tallis Scholars, to get the day off to a meditative start.
