Many thanks to this hard-working team from Chariton High School who moved mountains (of debris) Tuesday morning at the Lucas County Historical Society Museum as part of city-wide clean-up day.
They are (from left) Mason Smith, Paige Ballard, McKinleigh Milledge, Hailee Smith, Paige Andrews and Brett Morgan.
The team arrived by bus before 9 a.m. and spent about three hours working steadily. The interior of the Pioneer Barn was tidied, swept and artifacts on display there dusted.
Outside, plantings around the barn were cleared of winter debris which was raked up and carted to the base of our big hill for recycling. Flower beds around the patio were given the same treatment. The Pioneer Cabin and Marner Blacksmith Shop also were cleaned.
The only casualty of the day was a mouse that had taken up residence in a carriage --- something we just couldn't tolerate.
So it was a great morning and we're most grateful!
