We've not heard too much from Pete Buttigieg lately, in part I'm guessing because his job as U.S. Transportation Secretary is a strenuous one. And parenting twin infants with husband, Chasten, is a demanding task, too.
But he was in the news over the weekend, in part because of his response to a news show question about Chasten's tweet regarding Supreme Court Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh's decision to flee abortion rights protesters at a Washington, D.C., restaurant last week rather than enjoy dessert.
Here's a link to a Washington Post story about the response that includes a video link, now circulating widely in social media.
Buttigieg obviously hasn't lost his touch as a highly effective communicator --- near the top within the Biden administration.
So it will be interesting to watch as the 2024 presidential race draws nearer to see what develops if, let's say, President Biden, now 79, should decide not to seek a second term (and there's no indication that he won't).
As inevitably happens to vice-presidents, we've not heard much from Kamala Harris since the 2020 election. There are reports that California Gov. Gavin Newsom is positioning himself for a run. Buttigieg, too? Time will tell. And at the age of 40, Mayor Pete has plenty.
