So I've been spending quality time lately watching (via Netflix) early episodes of the Danish political drama "Borgen," starring among others Sidse Babett Knudsen as Birgitte Nyborg, propelled somewhat unexpectedly into the post of Danish prime minister.
The first of four seasons was produced in 2010, the second in 2011, a third in 2013 and now there's a fourth, released earlier this year.
This all began innocently enough. I wanted to watch Season 4, then decided (for the purposes of background) that I'd better watch Seasons 1-3 before I did that. One thing leads to another.
It's nicely done, I'm hooked --- and the dubbing is immaculate (you don't find yourself wishing they'd opted for captioning).
I'm not suggesting that we shouldn't be attending to real-life political dramas --- including those played out on Primary Day yesterday --- but fiction quite often is more comforting than reality.
