I've been waiting, then waiting some more, for sunshine to illuminate the blossoms that have crept out recently during our long, chilly springtime. So here are a few, mostly from the area just south of the A.J. Stephens House on the Lucas County Historical Society Museum campus.
We've got redbuds, of course, framing the Otterbein steeple but not showing up especially well against gray skies. Sadly, the big redbud show at Red Haw State Park is going largely unobserved this year as the park is closed due to tornado damage.
Lots of tulips --- all roads lead to Pella this weekend where the annual Tulip Time festivall will be in progress.
The brightest of the daffodils have faded, but pale and double varieties still are abloom.
A touch of viburnum.
A delicate variety of spirea.
A touch of periwinkle.
And some plain old self-seeded meadow violets.
