President-elect Joe Biden referred last evening in Wilmington to a favorite hymn, "On Eagle's Wings," so I've been listening to various versions of it this morning. It's a moving piece written by a Catholic liturgical composer but with a huge ecumenical fan base.
The most memorable performance I recall actually was at a Baptist funeral in Forest City, Iowa.
Michael Joncas wrote the piece during the later 1970s. He's a priest in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis as well as on the faculty of the University of St. Thomas.
The performer here is Robert Robinson, perhaps Minnesota's most widely known gospel singer.
Have a great Sunday!
