A friendly reminder from Lucas County's most prominent timepiece that daylight saving time ends for another year during the early morning hours of Sunday.
Some clocks have minds of their own these days and will reset themselves; others will require a backward nudge.
As you can see, the courthouse clock has been running (with notable lapses when repairs were underway) since May 22, 1894, the day our new courthouse was dedicated. The mighty Seth Thomas was a gift from Smith H. Mallory.
And since it's All Saints Day, what better morning to remember the late and much lamented Steve Laing, county supervisor under whose leadership the the original workings of the clock rose from the ashes of neglect and caused the pendulum to begin to swing again during 2017.
