Research, writing, photography, etc., have fallen by the wayside this week while I binge watch evenings Series 8 and 9 of "Vera," another favorite British detective series.
Continuing this long-term relationship involved divorcing Acorn TV and subscribing again to BritBox, which in the fickle world of streaming services now holds the rights to eight of the nine "Vera" series.
She's recently been renewed for a 10th, so there's something to look forward to in a sad world that has seen "Inspector Morse" and his successor, "Lewis," fall by the wayside --- although "Midsomer Murders" continues to plod along.
I'm continually inspired by Detective Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope (Brenda Blethyn) of the fictional Northumberland & City Police, somewhat dishevelled, occasionally irascible, always brilliant. Besides, she's exactly the same age that I am.
Normally a polysubscriptionist, I'm thinking of letting Netflix go, too, as April moves along. I know it's trendy --- and plans to raise subscription rates to become even trendier --- but can't seem to find anything there that calls out to me of an evening. We'll see ....

My wife and I have been avid British mystery television watchers for a couple of years now. We find them much more "refined" as opposed to the racing cars, machine gun action drivel fed to American viewers. We too like Vera, the Morse series and others.
BTW: I found your blog via a search for the Stackhouse. I was at the 45th. A bunch of we vets are part of a CICV web site. Join us if you will. CICV@yahoogroups.com
