Willow Tree (I Will Bow and Be Simple)

Here's another Shaker hymn for a Sunday morning, similar in some ways to but less widely known that "Simple Gifts."

This one is attributed to Sister Mary Hazard (1811-1899) of the New Lebanon, N.Y., Shaker community and dates from sometimes in the 1840s.

The illustration is Sister Hannah Cohoon's "The Tree of Blazing Light." Cohoon (1788-1864) was a member of the Hancock Shaker community and this work dates from 1845.
