"This will take a while" & the Wexford Carol

I might have had more to write this morning, but the computer gods decided that it was time for an update --- the longest Windows 10 update in the history of computer technology. It went on forever; blue screen; reassuring message, "This will take a while."

I did manage to have a bowl of cereal, but otherwise just sat there in the glow of the screen holding the poor thing's hand and watching the percentage points tick off --- very slowly. Just felt I needed to be there for it.

So what's here instead this morning is a favorite carol, even though it's a little early --- Wexford, performed by Alison Krauss and Yo-Yo Ma. This is one of the oldest carols, Irish, originating in County Wexford, hence the name.

The "Blue Christmas" service last evening at First Christian Church was lovely --- Simple, beautiful, liturgically and musically rich and, in its way, profound. Thanks to the Interchurch Council for sponsoring it and to the pastors of First Christian, First Lutheran, First United Methodist and St. Andrew's for leading.
