I've been frittering away these early-morning hours listening to George Michael, who led off --- on Christmas day no less --- a string of celebrity departures that by now includes Carrie Fisher and her mom, Debbie. What is it with these closing days of 2016?
Musical frittering cuts into the time needed to research and write, so here's a performance by George and his pal, Elton John, dating from 1991, of Elton's 1974 "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me." Seems kind of appropriate. Hang in there, Elton --- and Betty White, too. We just can't take too much more of this.
