The state of the woodlands union ...

Later on Monday, I took a walk in the woods --- to watch the sun sparkle on water in a Red Haw inlet.

And found Rue Anemone on the wildflower bluff ...

... and Spring Beauties ...

... and a few Dutchman's Breeches hung out to dry, even though it's been chilly the last few days, and gray.

There were yellow violets ...

... and a butterfly.

And redbuds, too, still tightly bound, awaiting warmer days.

Haven't checked the news this morning to consider the newest outrage. The state of the union in Iowa woodlands is for the most harmonious as spring advances and I want to remember that.
