Imagine ...

As of today, 66 U.S. troops have died in Afghanistan during July --- a nine-year record.

As of today, the Iowa National Guard has begun it's largest post-World War II deployment. Before next week has ended approximately 2,800 Iowa troops and an additional 300 from Nebraska, forming a combat brigade, will have left the Midwest for advanced training, weeks away now from final deployment to Afghanistan.

Then the bodies will start coming home.

John Lennon's already said it. Here, the cast of "Glee" signs and sings it. Wow.

I drove past three military convoys and four semi convoys full of military equipment, most heading southeast between here and Des Moines yesterday evening. It sad to see them go for the reasons you mentioned. I hope they all come back safely.
